About Therapy

In Counselling and Psychotherapy we can learn to…

  • Manage stressful situations more effectively and gain a deeper sense of personal power.
  • Increase our sense of self-esteem, confidence and assertiveness.
  • Begin to see which aspects of our lives we find fulfilling and satisfying and to consider any changes we could make.
  • Develop a better understanding of ourselves and communicate with others more effectively.
  • Improve our relationships with family, friends and colleagues.
  • Grow to understand the effect of past traumas and decrease the impact they have in the present.
  • Acknowledge unhelpful habits and patterns in our lives and create more helpful and supportive ways to live.

How do I work?
The success of counselling and psychotherapy depends on the quality of the relationship between client and therapist. By being warm, receptive, open and non-judgemental, my aim is to provide a supportive environment in which you can feel safe, able to share your experience, and to trust you will feel heard with clarity and compassion.

We will have an ongoing dialogue about the work, so you are in control of the pace and methods which you find most effective.

As a Humanistic therapist I believe that when we have the support we require we heal, grow and resolve many of our problems. Our life becomes more satisfying and fulfilling.

I work by drawing on a variety of Humanistic theoretical approaches, such as Gestalt and Formative Psychology.
